“Happy British Muslims” (Mutlu Britanyalı Müslümanlar) videosu, Dürüstlük Politikası adlı bir grup genç İngiliz Müslüman tarafından çok basit bir amaçla bir araya getirildi.

“Happy British Muslims” (Mutlu Britanyalı Müslümanlar) isimli bu videoda Müslüman kadınlar, erkekler, Avrupalılar, aslen Doğu ülkelerinden gelenler, başörtülüler, başı açıklar, modern görünümlüler, geleneksel olanlar, bekarlar, aileler, meşhur akademisyen ve aktivistler, sıradan insanlar... Hepsi de Batılı bir şarkı eşliğinde dans ediyorlar.
Dürüstlük Politikası ekibi, sonuçtan memnun olduklarını söylüyor. "Bu videonun bir katkısı olduysa, o da kendi savunmasında muazzam, birleşik ve tutarlı bir topluluk sesini harekete geçirmektir. Kültürler arası, örgütler arası, çok etnikli; hepimiz bir olduk. Peki birleştirici güç neydi? Mutluluk."
Videonun katılımcıları arasında politikacılar, gazeteciler (bu kişi dahil), öğrenciler, aileler ve -söylemeye cüret ediyorum- toplum liderleri yer alıyor. Birleşik Krallık'taki en saygın Müslüman alimlerden biri olan ve Abdul Hakim Murad olarak da bilinen Cambridge Üniversitesi'nden Timothy Winter bile boy gösteriyor. Müslüman akademisyenler arasında metanetli yapısıyla tanınan Winter dans etmez, ancak "Mutluyum!" yazan bir pankartla poz verir.
